I recently photographed Christy & Jay’s wedding at Millbrook Estate in Devon and it was an usual one for me as there were no guests. That’s right, it was just the two of them! Christy & Jay had wanted a very intimate and private celebration and I thought it was wonderfully brave of them to so, especially as there is usually so much pressure to invite everyone you even vaguely know to your wedding day.
I’ll admit to being a bit worried about how the day was going to go photography-wise because normally I would split my time after the ceremony covering the guests mingling, doing a few family group photographs and then taking the couple away for their portraits. With no guests to divert me I wondered whether it might feel a little bit intense with it being just the three of us! But I needn’t have worried as Christy & Jay were one of the loveliest couples I have met.
It was a fantastic day and I think I managed to achieve a nice balance of natural moments of the two of them enjoying themselves together, with some gorgeous portraits in the stunning grounds of Millbrook Estate. It was great to have so much time to really play around and try out lots of different ideas.
