Somerset Wedding Photography – Rachel & Joe’s Wedding at Orchardleigh

I’ve had a nice little break from weddings through October which gave me a chance to recharge my batteries and catch up with all my client’s albums. But last week it was time to get back on the wagon again for the wedding of Rachel & Joe at Orchardleigh House near Frome, Somerset.

It was my first time at Orchardleigh so far this year…which is unusual as I’m often there 2 or 3 times a year…however I will be back again right at the end of December. It’s a lovely location for a wedding with the possibility of civil ceremonies in the main house or a choice of two churches on or right next to the estate. Rachel & Joe had decided to get married at St Mary’s church, which is on a little island on the Orchardleigh estate. The church looked amazing with all the autumnal colours in the trees around it and Rachel had really put a lot of thought into decorating both the church and the main house with flowers, candles and ribbons – stunning!

I started my coverage as usual with Rachel who was getting ready in the Bonita Suite with her mum and bridesmaids. I was able to flit between her room and where Joe was getting ready with the guys so I didn’t miss out on anything. Rachel chose to keep her dress a surprise from everyone (except her mum!) and got dressed in the ensuite bathroom so she could surprise her bridesmaids with the full impact once it was on! Her dad was blown away with how she looked too.

I left the girls to it and made my way to the church to meet up with Joe again and check in with the vicar. St Mary’s is a very tiny church that has no electricity, so it is lit entirely by candles. This makes for a very atmospheric setting for a wedding. After a lovely service everyone made their way outside to congratulate the newlyweds and shower them with confetti as they made their way to the car. Back at the house I snuck Rachel & Joe away outside into the grounds for their couples portrait session where I captured some lovely romantic and relaxed images of the two of them.
