It doesn’t happen that often but I really enjoy not having to travel too far to get to a wedding – and Saturday’s wedding was one of those just 10 minutes down the road for me in Sherborne, Dorset! Lauren was getting ready at her parents house and seemed in great spirits. The house was full of family all preparing themselves for the big day and there was a lovely atmosphere of excitement around. After photographing some of the preparations I made my way to where the ceremony was taking place at Sherborne Abbey. Being right in the centre of town there were lots of passers by who wanted to catch a glimpse of the bride as she arrived…but they had a bit of a wait as the lacing of Lauren’s dress was causing some issues which made her late to church!
But she made it in the end and made her grand entrance into the Abbey, led in by the choir and the vicar himself. The Abbey is very grand inside and made a fantastic background for photographing their ceremony. Afterwards everyone made their way outside to give the newlyweds their congratulations and best wishes. Then it was a short stroll around the corner to Sherborne School, where the reception was taking place.
What a beautiful location for the drinks reception! Lauren & Aden and their guests got to enjoy drinks and nibbles outside in the Courts of the School, under the shade of a large tree. After a while I took the couple off for some romantic, relaxed portraits of the two of them, and a bit later everyone made their way inside for the speeches and the wedding breakfast. The speeches were fantastic with contributions from both of Lauren’s dads, the groom and his two best men, and there were a few emotional tears in parts. A lovely day was had by all and below are a few of my favourite pictures from their day.
