My gosh, what glorious weather we’ve been having lately! It was absolutely fantastic on Saturday for Charley & Fran’s wedding at my favourite local wedding venue – Ston Easton Park in Somerset. But blooming hot to work in!
I started the day as usual with the bride’s preparations. When I arrived Charley had her hair in rollers and was having her make-up applied. Her bridesmaids were getting ready with her in the bridal suite and the atmosphere was definitely girly! I did nip out briefly to find Fran and photograph some of his preparations. In contrast he was getting ready alone and seemed very calm…although he was re-writing and putting the finishing touches to his speech at the same time!
I love photographing weddings that all take place in the one location, as this means I can be with the bride right up until the last moment, because I don’t need to leave to drive to the ceremony venue. At Ston Easton Park this meant I could get some fantastic shots of the bridesmaids and then Charley and her dad making their way down the hotel’s staircase, ready for their grand entrance!
The ceremony itself was quite unique, with the usual civil ceremony before hand and then a full religious blessing afterwards by a local vicar. In between the two services Charley & Fran made an official exit and re-entry into the room. After the official part of the day was over everone headed outside, where the bride and groom made their third exit of the day through the front doors of the hotel, to be greeted by their guests with confetti! I was a really lovely moment as Fran grabbed his new wife for a kiss!
Whilst the guests enjoys drinks and canapes in the sunshine I stole Charley & Fran away for a few moments to get some romantic portraits of the two of them around the hotel’s grounds.
