Merry Christmas!!!

Well, I can’t believe it but it’s that time again – how did this year go by so fast?!!! It’s been an incredibly busy year for me and Caroline Pilling Photography and one that has seen massive changes to my business. Once again I’ve had some fantastic weddings to photograph with some lovely couples – not a bad one amongst them! lol! I’ve managed to stay mainly local this year with weddings in Somerset, Dorset, Devon, Gloucestershire and Wiltshire – the only time I ventured away from the South West was for Emma & Dan’s West Sussex wedding in October.

Next year will see me re-aligning the business to what I love to do – weddings! I’m ramping down the portrait side of my business so there will be no more boudoir or studio portraits for me! Over the past year I’ve come to realise that weddings and location portraits are what I love to do the most and so that’s what I’m going to concentrate on from now on. I have some more lovely couples booked in for their weddings next year and I’m now over 50% booked up for 2010 and am already taking bookings for 2011!

Finally I wanted to take this opportunity to wish all of my clients, friends and general blog readers a very Merry Christmas and a wonderful 2010. The studio is closing after today (Friday 18th December) and will re-open on Monday 4th January 2010, so any enquiries or orders will be dealt with now in the New Year! And I’m sorry to say I roped in my poor dog Poppy again to pose for a Christmas-style picture (please don’t report me to the RSPCA – she was rewarded with treats!).

Merry Christmas!! xx

Holly & Jack’s Wedding at Ston Easton Park

Friday saw me shooting my last wedding of 2009! It’s so nice to be finishing early this year as it’s been a rather hectic one to say the least. I decided to give myself a little bit of time off over the winter months to recharge my batteries and refocus for 2010 and onwards.

And it was lovely to end my wedding season with such a nice couple, Holly & Jack, and at one of my favourite venues – Ston Easton Park – to boot! It was rather a late start to the proceedings as Holly & Jack’s ceremony didn’t begin until 4.45pm, by which time there was pretty much no natural light around! This made for nice ambience and a cosy feel to the proceedings, but for a tricky time photography wise as I hate blasting people with flash and try to avoid it if at all possible!

Again, with everything taking place at one location I was able to cover both the girls and the guys getting ready, and I’ll just say that the girls were far more relaxed and chilled out about everything than Jack and the guys were! However, once Jack had got some help with his bow tie I think things calmed down a bit and he seemed quite relaxed by the time Holly made her entrance down the staircase and into the ceremony room.

The ceremony was short, but sweet, with some lovely readings from two of the bridesmaids. Then everyone was able to mingle and relax, whilst enjoying drinks and nibbles in the hotel’s elegant surroundings. Of course by this time it was pitch black (and raining!) outside so Holly, Jack and I had to make the most of the hotel’s interior for their couple portraits…but I’m really pleased with the images we achieved!

By now Holly & Jack will be enjoying their amazing honeymoon in Australia, so their full gallery won’t be going online until some time in the New Year, once they’ve had a chance to come into the studio to see their images for the first time. But to tide everyone over until then, here are some of my favourite images from their day:

Suppliers: Dress: Ian Stuart from Clifton Brides; Florist: Lisa Elliot; Cake: Groom’s mum!
