Holly & Phil’s wedding took place at the Orchardleigh Estate near Frome. Although I’ve photographed many weddings at Orchardleigh, this was actually the first time I’ve photographed the ceremony in the Estate’s own church – St Mary’s. It’s a beautiful, small church that is infamous for having no artificial lights – everything is lit by candles. It’s very atmospheric as literally every surface is covered with candles – amazing!
I started my coverage with the girls getting ready in the Bonita Suite and had planned to nip to Phil’s room to get some shots of the guys getting ready – but when I arrived at the House Phil was already dressed and ready to go! How organised is that? So I stayed with the girls instead! Holly had opted for a very glam, Cheryl Cole inspired look and I think she looked fabulous!
Once the girls were dressed I made my way to the church to photograph Phil and the arrival of the guests. It was a gorgeous autumnal day, with lots of colourful leaves on the trees and on the ground – I love this time of year and think it’s a wonderful season to get married – especially if you get good weather like Holly & Phil did! After the church service I photographed Holly & Phil outside being congratulated by their guests. As everyone boarded the buses back to the House I nabbed Holly & Phil so we could do some portraits of the two of them amongst the foliage.
Back at the House there was time for some candid images of the guests enjoying themselves outside in the sunshine before we all headed inside for the speeches.
Holly & Phil’s full gallery will go online once they’re back from honeymoon and have been into the studio to see their images first. But in the meantime here are some of my favourite images from their day:
