On Saturday I photographed the wedding of Sophie & Karl in Bath. Last August I got to photograph Sophie’s sister Hannah when she got married to husband James, so it was nice to see some familiar faces when I arrived at Sophie’s parents house in the morning to cover the girl’s preparations! There was lots of excitement whilst the girls got ready, especially when it came time for Sophie to put on her dress – a beautiful Caroline Castigliano number, with a gorgeous lace-edged veil.
With about half an hour to go, I headed across Bath to Prior Park College where the ceremony was to take place. Both Sophie & Hannah had gone to school at Prior Park so it was only fitting that they get married in the lovely chapel there. The chapel is deceptive – it’s almost cathedral-like inside and has the most amazing light flooding in from the high windows. The place was decorated beautifully with lovely flower arrangements at the alter and on the pew ends and petals scattered along the edges of the aisle.
Karl looked rather dashing in his Royal Air Force uniform, which was fortunately blue and in keeping with the colour scheme! After a lovely ceremony, everyone headed over to another part of the college for drinks and canapes. Although it was a bit rainy in the morning, some dry spells did occur, so Sophie, Karl and myself made the most of them and headed outside for some photographs.
Later on it was time to leave Prior Park, and move on to the reception venue, The Park at Wick. By the time we arrived the rain had cleared up and the sun was even peeking out from behind the clouds – so we made the most of it and did some more portraits around the lovely grounds of the hotel. Then it was time for everyone to head inside for dinner.
Sophie & Karl’s full gallery will go online in a few weeks time, once they’ve been into the studio to see their images first. In the meantime here are some images from their day:
