Catherine & Jake’s Wedding – Halswell House

Friday saw me heading back to Halswell House near Taunton for the wedding of Catherine & Jake. Unfortunately the weather was pretty grim and it didn’t stop raining the whole day – which was a bit of a shame as we weren’t able to make full use of the beautiful grounds. However Catherine & Jake didn’t let this dampen their day and they had a great time inside the house instead!

With both Catherine & Jake getting ready at the house I was able to cover both sets of preparations before heading to the ceremony room to get ready for the service. Catherine had a really unusual but beautiful dress, and not one, but two pairs of shoes! After the service everyone enjoyed drinks and canapes downstairs whilst Catherine & Jake took a few minutes to themselves.

Later on the three of us went exploring the house to find some interesting locations for their portraits, it was nice to find some areas of the house I’d not seen before and we got some fantastic images despite having to stay indoors!

Catherine & Jake’s full gallery will go online in a few weeks time, once they’ve been in to the studio to see them first. But in the meantime here are a few of my favourites from their day:

Kathleen & Greg’s Wedding – Hestercombe Gardens

Despite the forecasted heavy rains for Saturday, fortunately the weather stayed mostly dry for Kathleen & Greg’s wedding up until they went in for their meal. This was a spot of luck as they had chosen Hestercombe Gardens as their reception venue which has lovely grounds and gardens for the guests to enjoy, but doesn’t have an awful lot of indoor space! I love Hestercombe Gardens – it’s a favourite location of mine for pre-wedding portrait sessions – and it was nice to do a wedding there as it’s been about 18 months since I was last there for a wedding.

The day started off at the Castle Hotel in Taunton where Kathleen was getting ready with her four bridesmaids and flower girl Maisy. It was quite chaotic in the room as there were so many of us crammed in there, but Kath remained calm and collected. Next I headed down the road to St George’s Catholic Church where the ceremony took place. It was a wonderfully light church with great character and a lovely little side garden where the guests were able to shower Kathleen and Greg with confetti afterwards.

Kath and Greg’s full gallery will go online in a few weeks time once they’ve been in to the studio to see their images for the first time. But here is a sneak peek of some of the images I captured during their day:

Charlotte & Tim’s Wedding – Halswell House

Another of my favourite venues for Monday’s wedding, Halswell House near Taunton. Charlotte & Tim’s day was all in one place, which was lucky really as the weather couldn’t seem to make up it’s mind whether it wanted to be sunny or rainy! With everyone getting ready at the house I was able to get some images of the guys getting ready too. Charlotte’s dress was lovely, her birdcage veil was an elegant touch, and when teamed with her purple shoes it was definitely an outfit that made a statement!

The ceremony was quite emotional for Charlotte and some of the guests – especially when best man Ben played guitar whilst Tim’s sister George sang as they signed the register. As the rain was holding off everyone headed outside afterwards. Charlotte and Tim obviously have a very sweet tooth, as they’d laid on both a sweetie bar and an ice cream van to serve cones to their guests.

Whilst it remained dry Charlotte, Tim and I nipped off to get some portraits. Charlotte really wanted an image of the two of them in the cornfields in front of the house, but just as we were getting into position in the middle of the field the heavens opened and we had to run for shelter under a tree. The rain continued and showed no sign of stopping – so eventually we had to be rescued by best man Ben in his car!

The rain seemed to have it in for us as every time we attempted to go outside for portraits it started up again, so we resigned ourselves to using the doorway and the ballroom upstairs for our backdrop.

Charlotte & Tim’s full gallery will go online in a few weeks time once they’ve been in to the studio to see their images first. In the meantime here are some of my favourites from their day:

Katy & Alex’s Pre-Wedding Portrait Session

Last week I caught up with Katy and Alex for their pre-wedding portrait session. They are getting married later this month down in Lyme Regis at the Alexandra Hotel. A new venue for me, but I’ve got another wedding there later this year too!

We had some fun around the grounds of Barrington Court before the heavens opened and we got drenched! Here are some images from their session:

Naomi & Andy’s Wedding – Ston Easton Park

It’s back to Somerset for the next few weddings, the first being on Saturday at Ston Easton Park – one of my favourite venues! Naomi got ready at the hotel, helped by her daughter Laura, and she had the most beautiful Sassi Holford dress – with lovely lace and a cute little shrug – it was exactly the sort of dress I love. Laura had a stunning bright pink dress and Naomi’s shoes picked up a hint of the pink too!

Next I headed over to St Thomas’ church in Wells to meet up with Andy and capture the arrival of the guests. The service was overseen by Andy’s brother-in-law Paddy, whose wonderful coat was made by Andy’s mum especially for the occasion! Naomi was very tearful when she was about to make her entrance, and to be honest the whole service was quite emotional, mostly due to the wonderful musical interludes from the choir. Even I teared up a little bit at one point!

Near the end of the ceremony Andy and Naomi made their way around the pews to hug each of their guests to thank them for attending – it really was a lovely moment. After confetti outside, it was back to Ston Easton Park for the reception. The weather was fantastic and everyone was able to enjoy themselves outside whilst Naomi, Andy and myself snuck off for some romantic portraits around the grounds.

Naomi & Andy’s full gallery will go online once they are back from honeymoon and have been into the studio to see them first. But in the meantime here are a few images from their day:
