Wendy & Adrian’s Wedding – Summer Lodge Hotel

Saturday saw me back at Summer Lodge Hotel in Evershot, Dorset for the wedding of Wendy and Adrian. Wendy got ready at the hotel with the help of her daughter Emma, Adrian’s daughter Amber and Emma’s friend Charley – who was called upon to straighten hair, put flowers in hair, do make-up and even put on false eyelashes – all without complaint!

Once they were all pretty much ready, I made my way over to the ceremony room to meet up with Adrian and to get some images of the guests arriving. Unfortunately Wendy’s mum became ill shortly before the wedding and so wasn’t able to be there in person, however someone had very cleverly hooked up a video link so she was able to watch the ceremony and later the guests outside remotely.

After a short but lovely service, everyone headed outside to enjoy champagne and canapes on the lawn whilst a string quartet played in the background.

Wendy and Adrian’s full gallery will go online once they’re back from honeymoon and have been into the studio to see their photographs. But in the meantime here are a few images from their day:

Suppliers: Dress: Paddy Campbell, London; Florist: Reed & Russell Flowers, Wincanton.

Catherine & Jake’s Pre-Wedding Portrait Session

On Monday I met up with Catherine & Jake, who are getting married at the lovely Halswell House next month, to do their pre-wedding portrait session. This was one photogenic couple, so that made my job pretty easy, but I still had to work hard to get Jake to smile naturally, after he told me he wasn’t a fan of smiling for the camera!

Here are a few of my favourites from their session:

Amanda & Simon’s Wedding – South Brent, Devon

Saturday’s wedding was my third Devon wedding in a row! This time it was off to the village of South Brent, on the edge of Dartmoor, for Amanda and Simon’s big day.

As usual I started my coverage with the bridal preparations, which were at Amanda’s parents house, before heading over to the village church to meet up with Simon and photograph the guests arriving. Simon & Amanda were sharing their wedding day with the South Brent street carnival so the lane outside the church was packed with people for Amanda’s arrival. It was like photographing a celebrity wedding!

The service was beautiful, with some really lovely readings from friends of the couple, and then everyone made their way outside into the sunshine to congratulate the couple and cover them in confetti. As all the guests headed back to Amanda’s parent’s house for a marquee reception, we nipped off for a photo session in the village.

The marquee looked amazing, and I’m told that Amanda’s mum had spent a lot of time and effort on getting the garden prepared for this day – it certainly showed!

Amanda & Simon’s full gallery will go online in a few weeks time, but here are a few images from their day in the meantime:

Suppliers: Dress: Michele Ann May, Modbury; Hair: Beverley Lavis, Plympton; Make-Up: Lisa Pinkhurst, Ivybridge; Stationery: Downey & Co; Cake: Jane Wellens, South Brent; Caterers: Philippa Sayers, Devon; Florist: Sarah Pepper.

Eleanor & Simon’s Wedding – The Great Barn

I was back down in Devon again on Saturday for the wedding of Eleanor & Simon at the Great Barn, Higher Ashton. Eleanor and Simon are a lovely couple – I really liked them from the first moment I met them and we had a great time doing their pre-wedding shoot earlier this year. But it wasn’t until Saturday that I got to meet their little daughter Bella, who was soooo cute! Apart from the fact that her favourite word seemed to be “no!” and she didn’t really want to pose for photos for me!

After a bit of a hectic start to the day with the girls preparations – you kind of expect it with five bridesmaids aged 4 and under – I left Eleanor in the cottage and went to meet up with Simon at the barn itself. He was very calm and looking forward to the ceremony. When the service started all the little bridesmaids performed brilliantly – making the long walk from the back of the barn down to the front of the aisle by themselves. And then it was Eleanor’s turn, and things got a little bit emotional!

After a grand exit and confetti throwing in front of the barn doors, it was over to the lovely cottage gardens for drinks and canapes. The weather was glorious – apart from one little shower in the middle of the day…check out the little bridesmaids reactions to it below! I got some fantastic shots of the newlyweds around the beautiful grounds, with painted doors, wicker hearts and cute white benches its was definitely my kind of location!

Eleanor & Simon’s gallery will go online in a few weeks time, once they’ve been in to the studio to see their images for the first time. In the meantime here are a few of my favourites from their day:

Suppliers: Dress: Jo Christoforides, Wells; Cake: Katherine Larkins, Torquay; Florist: Stem, Exeter; Stationery: Glyn Archer; Hair & Make-up: Amy Elizabeth, Wellington.
