Sarah & Dalbir’s Wedding – Matara Centre

Bank Holiday Monday saw me heading back up to Gloucestershire for the wedding of Sarah & Dalbir at the Matara Centre. I LOVE Matara as it’s so very different from most of the other places I cover weddings at, and I like the fact that couples get married *almost* outside in the beautiful courtyard garden. In fact this was the main reason that Sarah and Dalbir chose the place!

I started coverage with the girls preparations at nearby Calcot Manor where Sarah was being pampered whilst her bridesmaid Joanna kept everything organised! It was all very leisurely and calm, and the girls were ready with plenty of time to spare. I left them supping champagne and headed over to Matara to check in with Dalbir and his three best men.

Sarah made her entrance to the ceremony through the wonderful japanese keyhole gate and when Dalbir saw her he got a bit emotional. But who could blame him – she looked absolutely stunning in her beautiful Augusta Jones dress!

After the service Sarah & Dalbir did a special tree-planting ceremony out in the gardens, and then it was time for the guests to mingle and enjoy champagne and canapes. After a while the three of us slipped away so I could get some romantic portraits of them. Another great thing about Matara is the wonderful photo opportunities – I could have kept shooting for the rest of the day!

Sass & Dave’s Wedding – Westonbirt School

Saturday was my birthday! It was also the day that Sass and Dave got married at Westonbirt School in Gloucestershire! I didn’t mind working on my birthday as this couple were such lovely people when I first met them, and we had so much fun on their pre-wedding shoot, so I knew covering their wedding day was going to be a blast!

Sass got ready at The Old Bell Inn with help from her mum and bridesmaid Steph. She had a gorgeous Caroline Castigliano dress that was truly princess-style. About half an hour before the service was due to start I headed over to Westonbirt School to meet up with Dave and the guys. Sass arrived with her dad and made her entrance through the grand front doorway.

The service took place in the school’s library, with beautiful light streaming in through the windows in front of the couple. It was all going so well, until the fire alarm went off! Luckily the service was pretty much over so we all hurried outside whilst the staff confirmed it was a false alarm. Although this meant Sass and Dave missed their grand exit as a married couple, it didn’t matter as next they headed over to the quaint church in the school grounds for a blessing. So we got to do it all over a second time!

The weather was glorious and everyone got to enjoy drinks and canapes outside on the lawns whilst Sass, Dave and I slipped away for some fun portraits.

Fiona & Lee’s Wedding – The Rectory Hotel

The second wedding of the weekend was up in the Cotwolds at the Rectory Hotel, Crudwell. Fiona got ready in a lovely B&B in the centre of Cirencester before heading over to the hotel for her meeting with the registrars. She wore a wonderful Jenny Packham dress teamed with some gorgeous Gina shoes – she looked like she was going to the Oscars!

At the Rectory Hotel I met up with Lee and his THREE best men! Lee looked dashing in his navy suit that had fantastic orange accents on the pockets and lining – and his socks were a sight to behold!

The best part of the day for me was the ceremony. Not only had the Wiltshire registrars lifted their ban on photography, it was also one of the most emotional ceremony’s I’ve ever experienced. Even myself and the registrars were tearing up at one point when Fi’s friend sang “Nothing Else Matters”.

Despite another rainy forecast the weather wasn’t too bad – except for the wind – and the guests were able to enjoy some champagne outside on the lawns before they headed back inside for the speeches.

Fi and Lee’s full gallery will go online in a few weeks time, after they’ve had a chance to view the images first in the studio. But in the meantime here are some of my favourites from the day:

Anne & David’s Wedding – Orchardleigh House

A double-header of weddings this weekend just gone, first off on Friday was Anne & David’s wedding at Orchardleigh House, near Frome.

I do enjoy it when both the bride and groom are getting ready at the same place, as I’m able to cover both of them. Anne’s preparations were very chilled and she and her girlfriends enjoyed champagne and nibbles whilst she was pampered and preened by the make-up artist and hair stylist. David and the guys preparations were a little more rushed, with everyone chipping in to help each other out with fixing button-holes and doing up ties!

With Anne being French, it was to be expected that her dress was very elegant and stylish. And that element of stylishness could be seen elsewhere in the little touches of the day, including the flowers decorating the staircase and the table settings.

It was fortunate that the preparations, ceremony and reception were all taking place in the house, as the weather wasn’t especially great. However we did get a small dry spell, which was long enough to get outside and do some portraits with Anne and David, before we were rained off again!

Suppliers: Florist: Ye Olde Flower Shop, Frome.

Anne and David’s full gallery will go online in a few weeks time when they’ve had a chance to come in to the studio and see their images first. But in the meantime here are a few from their day:

Naomi & Andy’s Pre-Wedding Portrait Session

Last week I met up with one of my summer couples to do their pre-wedding portrait session. For a change of scenery we went to Barrington Court, as the place held special meaning to Andy because his great grandfather had once lived on the estate.

It was a lovely place for a portrait session, and I’m pretty sure I’ll be back again – especially as it’s so close to my new studio!

Here are some of my favourites from their session:
